One-Win Wonders Published

SABR’s newest book, One-Win Wonders, was recently published and includes the biography I wrote of Nick Adenhart.

The book covers 78 players who’s major league career included only a single pitching win. When I was perusing the list of potential candidates to write about, Adenhart’s name jumped out at me. I remembered that he was a young pitching phenom with the Angels whose life was cut short at age 22 in a car accident but knew nothing else of his life story.

While researching the project, I visited the high school field in Willamsport, Maryland where Adenhart excelled and interviewed his best friend, David Warrenfeltz, as well as local sportswriter Bob Parasiliti. I found a town that revolves around youth baseball and still runs a memorial 5k in Adenhart’s name fifteen years after his death.

The book is available online from SABR and the full description can be found in the link. The game story that I wrote from his lone victory can be found on my website under the SABR tab.
